Press Release for May 15 Show

The Pleasures of Being Bad: A Musical Comedy about the Seven Deadly Sins

SEATTLE – Sometimes what you’ve always been told isn’t necessarily what you should do. This is the lesson Eva Moon learns in the course of one wild night’s encounter with the specters of Sloth, Envy, Greed, Pride, Anger, Gluttony and most of all, Lust.
The sexy all-original one-woman musical at Belltown’s Open Circle Theater adds two provocative new songs. Monthly performances have been extended through Spring 2011. The next performance is May 15.
Backed by Moon’s hot-jazz quartet, The Lunatics, the newly revamped show includes 17 original songs on topics ranging from Brazilian waxes to sexy baristas, e-mail scammers, chocolate overload and kinky sex.

Seattle PI:
“This hilarious one-woman musical was such a hit that new dates have been added, so if you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you do. The show explores the question of whether the path to Hell leads to happiness as Eva Moon encounters all seven deadly sins in one uproarious night. It’s like reading Dante in high school — only funny.”

The Stranger:
“… A cabaret-¬concert, a song cycle … tells a Christmas Carol–like fable about a night when her younger good-girl self is visited by seven spirits who instruct her in the pleasures of being bad… Tight.”

Eva Moon & The Lunatics have released two CDs, “Something’s Brewing” in 2004 and “Moon Falling Down” in 2008. Performers will include Moon on vocals and keyboard, Ferko Saxmanov on alto sax and flute, George Michael on guitar, Mike Gordon on bass and Zuki Niemann on drums.

Next show: May 15, 7:30. Tickets are available online at Brown Paper Tickets or at the theater’s box office. Open Circle Theater is upstairs at 2222 2nd Ave., Seattle. Street parking is free after 6 p.m. Admission is $15. For directions, photos, video and sound clips, see http://deadlysinsmusical.com. Upcoming shows: May 15, June 12.

This is the opening number from the show. The set is from The Rocky Horror Show, which was also running at Open Circle Theater at the time. That’s life for an act that comes into a house once a month! We have to work around whatever sets and lights are in place for the running production. This was FAR from the worst we’ve had to deal with. In fact, except for the pools and spatters of fake blood, it was pretty all right. April 10, 2011
